REMEMBER when American Idol's David Cook covered songs like The Beatles' Day Tripper and Eleanor Rigby, which turned out to be covers of covers by Whitesnake and Seattle band Doxology?
Those covers proved that the originals have lasting appeal, but also left audiences hungry to discover the artists involved.
Here's a new one for pop-culture watchers: Actor Sam Lloyd appears as beaten- down lawyer Ted Buckland on long-running dramedy Scrubs.
Recently, the actor/singer performed a surprising acoustic cover of Outkast's Hey Ya, which plays as a soundtrack to the season's closing scene.
Turns out that Lloyd had borrowed his version of the song from alternative musician Matt Weddle, who fronts alternative folk band Obadiah Parker. YouTube that version of the song as well. Classic.
If you're a musician, chords for the cover can be found online.
Have fun.
