I REFER to the letter 'Shocked by behaviour of SQ leading stewardess' by Ms Tan Ai Ching Serene (my paper, Jan 23).
As a frequent traveller on Singapore Airlines, I have always found that the cabin crew members are accommodating to reasonable requests.
I understand that most airlines carry a limited stock of newspapers on board to minimise the load on the aircraft.
It is not unreasonable of the stewardess to request Ms Tan to share her newspapers with her parents, since they are one family, even though they are seated apart.
From Ms Tan's feedback, it seems that her unhappiness had stemmed from the stewardess's delivery of the message, which was not what she had expected.
I do not see why the stewardess's comment on sharing would make Ms Tan appear greedy.
Considering the Earth's limited natural resources, it is every person's responsibility to try and reuse what we have to help save the Earth.
In addition, there is no difference in whether you are in the Economy class or otherwise.
I have travelled in the First Class and Raffles Class before, and a similar level of service is accorded to all passengers.
Naturally, the more you pay, the more you get.
However, having flown on SIA for the last 15 years, I do have feedback for the airline: I have no complaints with the current standard of service, but I do feel that it was much better in the early days.
