I REFER to the report 'Should female teachers have a dress code' (my paper, Feb 4).
Teaching is a very noble and professional vocation.
Dressing properly does bring out the professionalism and it also enhances the image of the teachers.
However, when it comes to dress code for any organisation or profession, there is no need to specify whether it is for the men or women, as it applies to both genders.
A dress code, if there is one, would play the role of bringing out the professional image of teachers, the school and ultimately, the entire teaching profession.
Having said that, an unwritten rule on dress code would be better than a written one.
The principal and vice-principal should lead by example as well as advise their teachers on what is appropriate.
I believe our teachers are mature enough to take the advice.
Coming up with its own uniforms for teachers should be the last resort for schools.
