ROSES going for $100?

Valentine's Day is no longer just about having a walk in the park with your loved one, whispering sweet nothings to each other.

These days, how much you spend seems to equate how much you love a person - and commercial outlets such as restaurants are exploiting this.

Special packages for Valentine's Day are becoming more extravagant and expensive and yet people still go for them.

Some have said that people should not wait until it's Feb 14 to proclaim or show our love, and they wonder why each day cannot be Valentine's Day.

But if I were to treat each day as if it's Valentine's Day, it would have lost its special meaning.

Would you enjoy an expensive French dinner if you eat it daily?

Of course, we love our significant other on any day, but Valentine's is the one day where we can make an even bigger effort to show our love and make it a day to be remembered.

That is why I remember how I spent my first Valentine's Day but have no idea where I ate last week.

So, go on and celebrate Valentine's Day!

Just make sure you don't spend beyond your budget.

It's the thoughts that count.

In the eyes of your special someone, a simple card signed off with a crayon may be more treasured than an expensive dinner.
