VINCENT'S father,Mr Chia Cheow Yong, has denied that his son had been attacked after an argument at a karaoke club in China.

One media report said Vincent had invited a local Chinese girl whose friends later attacked him.

Mr Chia, 47, a network engineer, said at a press conference yesterday: "I flew to China and met the nine other boys who were at the club with Vincent.

One of them had asked the girl to come. She asked another local girl.

"Their group sang on the second floor. The second girl brought another three men to the club, but the men sang on the first floor.

The SP students didn't know about them,"' he said. During the KTV session, Vincent went missing but his friends thought he had gone to the toilet.

At 10pm,when they wanted to leave, Vincent was still not back.

When one of them phoned Vincent, the police answered.

Surveillance footage showed Vincent getting into a taxi. Then a man rushed up and stabbed him in the right thigh.

Mr Chia said: "'The men and two girls are in custody and investigations are ongoing. I don't know why there were reports about a dispute over a girl. There's no proof. My son is not like that."
