HE PRETENDED to be a mentor by advising an 11-year-old schoolgirl to listen to her grandmother.

He also offered her pocket money for doing simple household chores for him.

But Khairulhizam Din Ahmad, then 35, was a sex fiend who wanted to exploit her innocence.

One day in July 2006, he lured the girl into his flat at Commonwealth Drive by offering her $50 to help him to mop the floor.

Khairulhizam and the girl's grandmother had previously met.

The girl, who cannot be identified as she is a minor, went with him, thinking that she could earn extra pocket money.

Once they were inside the flat, he locked the doors.

He then told the girl that he was a "government officer" who had to check if she was a virgin.

He asked for her full name and identity card number and got her to write them down.

Soon after, he forced her to remove her clothes and molested her.

He later gave her $20 to take a taxi home and told her not to tell anyone about the incident.

But the girl told her sister and they went to the police.

In May 2007, he was convicted of wrongfully restraining the girl and molesting her.

He was jailed three years and given six strokes of the cane.

Stabbing

He also had earlier convictions.

In 1990, Khairulhizam, then 18, was convicted of molesting and robbing an Indonesian maid after tricking her in to taking Erimin-5 pills to make her drowsy.

In 1997, Khairulhizam was sentenced to 18 months' jail and given three strokes of the cane for stabbing his wife after an argument.

They had been married for just a month.

The wife, then 29, was warded in hospital for more than a week. They are no longer married.
