SINGAPORE director Royston Tan's upcoming flick now has an official title - 12 Lotus - and it will screen in theatres on Aug 14.

The musical film is the second part of a duology after Tan's getai drama 881 last year.

Mindee Ong, who acted in 881, stars as talented singer Lian Hua who gets involved with men who use and abuse her. Qi Yuwu and Liu Ling Ling, both of whom were also in 881, star in this movie too.

12 Lotus will also feature the work of composer Eric Ng from Funkie Monkies Productions and composer Ricky Ho, who worked on films like Tsui Hark's A Chinese Ghost Story and Legend Of Zu, a MediaCorp Raintree Pictures statement said. It is producing the movie with Scorpio East Pictures and Infinite Frameworks.

The movie will span the 1980s till the present day and feature Hokkien songs.

"This is great to keep overseas Singaporeans connected to home news and affairs"

"My favourite was "The Aftermath for Malaysia Election" - (in my opinion), this was a very well crafted world standard image, it is even suitable for a Time magazine cover!"
