COME Sept 28, eyeballs the world over will be glued onto Formula One's first night race - the SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.

But, in a control room deep within the Pit Building, far from the limelight, will be a man who played a major role in making the historic event possible.

Valerio Maioli, the inaugural Singapore GP's lighting consultant, has never liked the glare of camera flashes and television attention.
