SHE has just won a silver medal at the Olympics as part of the women's team, but national paddler Li Jiawei's game is about to undergo an overhaul.

The world No 6 is now using a new bat and has switched to using a thicker sponge - which is the layer between the wooden bat and the rubber.

The reason: Starting today, speed glue has been banned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the sport's world governing body.
