NEW DELHI, INDIA: Changi Airports International (CAI) is poised to announce that it has taken a quarter stake in a 100 billion rupee (S$3 billion) airport project in eastern India, three years after it opted out of participating in the modernisation of Delhi airport.

Bengal Aerotropolis Projects is setting up a 950ha airport, IT park, logistics hub and township in Durgapur, a steelmaking town two hours by road from Kolkata.

At least a third of that will be allotted for the airport, which will be capable initially of taking A-320 type aircraft.
