New York - A steakhouse lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett sold for US$1.68 million (S$2.4 million) in an online auction to benefit a San Francisco charity, trailing last year's record of US$2.1 million. The winner chose to remain anonymous.

The auction drew 10 bidders and 116 bids, according to eBay, and ended last Friday. The starting price was US$25,000.

Bidding activity accelerated towards the end of the auction, much as in past years, with the top bid rising from US$810,000 over the last two hours.
