SINGAPORE'S bowlers, without a win after three events at the 2009 World Women's Championship in Las Vegas, finally clinched the bronze in the team event yesterday.

The achievement was made sweeter by the fact that it was also the first team medal for Singapore at any world championship, according to team manager Melvin Lim, 34.

The team, comprising Jasmine Yeong-Nathan, Bernice Lim, Cherie Tan, Jazreel Tan, Shayna Ng and reserve Geraldine Ng, finished joint-third with Sweden after they were beaten in the semi-finals by the United States.
