A YOUNG man accused of murdering his girlfriend claimed yesterday that as he stabbed her repeatedly, she told him: 'I love you.'
Testifying at his trial, Pathip Selvan Sugumaran, 23, told the High Court that those were her last words, as she died moments later.
Yesterday, the court heard for the first time an account of what happened in the moments before the teenager died.
About the case
PATHIP Selvan Sugumaran, 23, is on trial for the murder of his girlfriend, Miss Jeevitha Panippan, 18.
On the fifth day of the trial, Pathip was called to give his defence after High Court Judge Kan Ting Chiu found the prosecution had made a reasonable case against him. He was cross-examined by both the defence and the prosecution.
Pathip is charged with murdering Miss Jeevitha on the night of July 7 last year at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5. Miss Jeevitha died from three stab wounds - to her neck, shoulder and chest.
