DOG attacks on people have more than doubled in the last five years, with an average of about an attack a week over the last few years.
According to new figures from the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA), the number of reported 'dog bites man' incidents jumped from 28 in 2004 to a record 67 the following year, before falling slightly to 50 in 2006.
But then the numbers started creeping up again, and are now on course to hit an all-time high: 65 attacks have already been reported to date this year.
