EVENT management company Pico Art International yesterday became the latest in a series of companies taken to court and fined for worksite safety lapses.

It was fined $24,000 yesterday over a worksite accident which left five workers injured. The workers were on the second floor of one of the corporate suites being built for last year's inaugural Formula 1 race when the mishap occurred.

Since the Workplace Safety and Health Act came into force in March 2006, 56 companies have been brought to court and fined $3.9 million in total.
