MM visits 'splendid' Marina Bay Sands

STANDING on its 57th storey, framed by a spectacular view of the skyline and seafront, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew yesterday pronounced the new Marina Bay Sands (MBS) a 'striking, splendid building'.

On his first tour of the latest integrated resort here, he was guided on an extended visit by Mr Sheldon Adelson, president and chief executive of Las Vegas Sands, the resort's parent firm.

Seated in a buggy, Mr Lee was taken through the convention centre and the adjacent shopping mall and casino, and later walked along the observation deck of the MBS hotel.
