There is now one more way to reach the 'pearl of the Andaman' in Thailand.
Starting from November 5, Thai AirAsia has reopened the Singapore-Phuket route with one daily roundtrip flight offered by the budget carrier.
Flights will depart daily from Singapore Changi Airport at 1.05pm local time, and arrive in Phuket at 1.45pm, Thai time. The return leg will leave Phuket International Airport at 9.50am, Thai time, and arrive in Singapore at 12.35pm local time.
Initially opened in November 2004, the Singapore-Phuket route was soon suspended by the end of that same year, due to the tourism downturn brought about by the ravaging effects of the Asian tsunami.
Mr Tassapon Bijleveld, Chief Executive Officer, Thai AirAsia said: "We are reopening the route to strengthen AirAsia's position at the leading low fare airline in Asia Pacific.
"Singapore is a huge market, and we are banking on our recent international and regional aviation awards to help bring more Singaporeans into our seats."
The regular ticket price for the Singapore-Phuket flight ranges from as low as around 2,200 baht (S$93.50) to 5,000+ baht (S$212.50+) inclusive of taxes, fuel surcharge and fees.
Ms Desi Bandal, Corporate Communications Executive, Thai AirAsia says, "Prices are dependent on the booking and flight dates. The earlier the booking for a seat on a given date, the cheaper the price. But our highest regular price is still about 20 per cent cheaper than the regular airfare of other airlines."
Thai Air Asia, the Bangkok-based member of the Air Asia Group, currently operates four other return flights from Singapore to Bangkok.
It is the only low cost carrier to operate both international and domestic flights out of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
AirAsia currently flies domestically from Bangkok to the Thai cities of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Krabi, Narathiwat, Phuket, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani.
