KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: The General Operations Force (GOF) are replacing Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad's auxillary police at all international airports in the country from today.

Since May, GOF personnel have been deployed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, following a high number of crime in its vicinity.

After the police enforcement at KLIA proved to be a success, in terms of safety, security and ranking among other international airports, police decided to apply the same method at three other international airports in the country -- Kota Kinabalu International Airport in Sabah, Kuching International Airport in Sarawak and Bayan Lepas International Airport in Penang.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said efforts to raise the safety standards at all three airports were based on the success in ensuring safety and curbing crime at the KLIA.
