SINGAPORE Airlines (SIA) unveiled a huge plunge in fourth quarter profit yesterday while also announcing that it wants to give away its entire 81 per cent stake in Singapore Airport Terminal Services (Sats) to its shareholders.

The giveaway amounts to $1.3 billion - the value of the Sats stake at yesterday's closing price of $1.55.

SIA proposes to issue the Sats shares as dividend in specie. That will mean investors will get up to 0.73 Sats shares for every single SIA share they hold.
