WE REFER to the letter, "Tax refund possible with cancelled flight?" (my paper, May 20), by Mr Sylvester Wong.
While we do not have any objection to airlines charging administrative fees if consumers make changes to their bookings, these fees should be disclosed upfront and included in the terms and conditions of purchase.
Consumers are also entitled to a reimbursement of taxes, which are not paid to the airline company, should a consumer cancel a booked flight.
From Nov 1 last year, all travel and airfare advertisements have had to disclose the monetary value of airport taxes, insurance and administrative charges and fuel surcharges.
Hence, should Mr Wong find misleading advertisements on low or $0 airfares, he can notify the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore on 6461-1888 so that it can look into such breaches.
