TWO fatal accidents within a span of two months have killed a total of 13 tourists at Bolivia's famous salt flats.
Last Sunday, three European visitors and a local driver died after their bus flipped over while passing through the Salar de Uyuni, reported the Xinhua news agency.
Authorities said that the bus braked suddenly, causing it to spin and overturn, killing the two French and Belgian travellers.
Four other tourists were injured, including two from Belgium, one from Japan, and another from Germany.
The Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flats, is one of Bolivia's renowned tourist attractions.
The Associated Press reported that on May 2, 10 tourists from Japan and Israel were killed in an enflamed collision involving two Sport Utility Vehicles.
The driver of one of the vehicles and a Bolivian tour guide also perished.
The death toll at Bolivia's salt flats, including tourists and locals, stands at 16.
