IN A face-off between the doughnut and the durian puff, the latter emerges as the lesser of the two evils.
Fat makes up about 16 per cent or about 5g in an average puff, but constitutes about 20 per cent, or about 14g, of a typical doughnut.
Such nuggets about the fat content of popular snacks here can be picked up from a new interactive display called Fat Exposed, at the Health Promotion Board (HPB) revamped exhibition on healthy eating.
Part of the HPB's permanent exhibition in its exhibition centre Healthzone, the nutrition show was re-opened on Thursday after three months of renovation.
Other new exhibits will give visitors tips on choosing healthier hawker fare and healthier ingredients for sandwiches, reading food labels and cooking healthier meals.
The HPB is holding a carnival with games and cooking demonstrations - till Saturday - to coincide with its revamped exhibition.
Admission to Healthzone at the HPB premises opposite Outram Park MRT station and the carnival costs $4 for adults and $2 for children aged three to 18 as well as for those aged 60 and above.
