Earshot Cafe

All we wanted that night was a quick dinner so we would be in time for a show at the Esplanade. My friend and I picked a place that didn't look busy, Earshot Cafe in Esplanade Mall, and rushed in with no expectations.

However, the savoury crepes we were served turned out to be light and rather delightful - we had lucked out.

Still, that was last July and I had my doubts. What if that dinner was a fluke?

So I revisited the place with a colleague two weeks ago and now I can safely say: The crepes are quite good. The Veggie Primavera crepe ($10.90++) that I had was full of fresh, sweet flavours - thanks to the roasted zucchini, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers and onions.

My colleague had the Tomato & Anchovies crepe ($10.90++), which was less of a hit. She would have liked the fish in smaller strips and its saltiness spread out more evenly. But we both liked the crepe skins, which had been fluffed up from buckwheat flour. Crisp yet soft, they were like thosai, but thinner.

Any lighter and these pancakes would be floating away.
