Actress Felicia Chin opens new seafood stall at Satay by the Bay

SINGAPORE - In just six months of opening her first cafe, home-grown actress Felicia Chin has officially opened another F&B outlet.

This time round, the 30-year-old will be dabbling with pincers, shellfish and the lot.

Chin told AsiaOne that she has recently opened a seafood stall called Wholly Crab at Satay by the Bay.

The new F&B outlet allows patrons to customise their own seafood bucket by choosing crabs, prawns, mussels or clams, and flavours to cook it with, such as marmite, cream cheese, laksa and spicy tomato.

Sides are also available, including Thai vermicelli salad, Thai mango salad and sweet potato fries.

However, it is their signature Nori tempura soft shell crab that takes the cake. Juicy and tasty, the crab is fried just right and not too dry. Topped with thinly sliced seaweed, the dish stands out from the seafood offerings at Wholly Crab.

Chin, who invested a five figure sum in her new venture, told AsiaOne: "I wanted to make seafood affordable for people, so instead of having to go to a restaurant, a hawker concept was a better way to allow customers to enjoy seafood in a casual setting."

Chin opened her first retro-themed cafe, Mama Shop, at the Old Police Headquarters at Pearl's Hill Terrace in October.

According to her, business has been stable and there is a regular flow of customers.

While she was involved in designing the menu at Mama Shop, Chin said this time she has left all the planning of the menu and food items to her crew at Wholly Crab.

"One of our chefs has numerous years of experience in the F&B industry and understands the tastes of diners here. I've left the operations and menu to them, and trust that they can do an outstanding job," said Chin.

"They have not disappointed."

When asked if she will be focusing on her businesses now that she has two F&B outlets under her care, Chin - who recently won Top 10 Most Popular Female Artist at last week's Star Awards - said confidently that it will not distract her from her acting career.

"Acting has always been, and still is, my passion and something I love very much.

"My businesses are in good hands and although there might be hiccups along the way, I trust my crew fully."
