4 Chinese citizens arrested in Indonesia for drug smuggling

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Police have arrested four Chinese nationals for allegedly smuggling drugs worth Rp 206 billion (S$20.5 million) into Indonesia.

The four suspects, identified with the initials YMCB, CSW, PCP and NKF, were arrested on Sunday for allegedly carrying 94 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and over 112,000 ecstasy pills.

Airport Police chief Sr. Comr. CH Patoppoi said that UMCB and CSW were part of a China-Indonesia drug syndicate.

The four suspects had travelled from Guangzhou in China on a Malaysian Airlines flight.

The police questioned the suspects after becoming suspicious of their luggage . During an intensive investigation, the police found 10 packages of meth and ecstasy inside their bags.

"Besides confiscating the evidence, we also arrested the four suspects," Patoppoi said, as quoted by tribunnews.com on Thursday.
