4 police officers suspended for China jailbreak

Four police officers have been suspended following the escape of three inmates from a detention centre in Yanshou county of China's Heilongjiang Province on Tuesday.

A guard was killed during the jailbreak.

China's official Xinhua news agency cited local authorities as saying that the suspended officers are the head, deputy head and a police officer from the detention centre and the deputy head of the Yanshou county public security bureau in charge of detention affairs.

The authorities said the officers will be investigated and dealt with according to the law, Xinhua reported.

Two of the escapees have since been captured by the police.

Li Haiwei, 29, was netted on Wednesday night near Yushan Village. He was suspected of intentional homicide.

Wang Damin, 35, was captured near Xinsheng Village on Thursday morning. He was suspected of intentional injury which resulted in death.

A third escapee Gao Yulun, 50, is still on the run. He was sentenced to death for intentional homicide.
