Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had a teleconference with Jordanian King Abdullah II on Sunday night, expressing his gratitude for Jordan’s cooperation in the Japanese hostage crisis.

In the telephone conversation, Abe said Japan “will expand humanitarian assistance” for the Middle East.
