Another student dies after mountaineering trip
Indonesian police are investigating the latest death to occur in the mountaineering club.

JAKARTA - Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said another student from SMA 3 Jakarta senior state high school's mountaineering club died on Thursday in Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung, West Java.

"The victim died at 4:30 a.m. His body was transferred to a funeral home in Mampang, South Jakarta," he said on Thursday, as reported by kompas.com, he added that the funeral would be on Thursday afternoon in Menteng Cemetery in South Jakarta.

The student, Padian, was also on the ill-fated mountaineering trip to the Tangkuban Perahu in West Java, during which fellow student, Arfiand Caesar Al Irhami, was allegedly beaten so badly by his peers he died from his injuries.

Rikwanto said that the police would look into the boy's medical records as part of the investigation into his suspicious death.

"The victim had almost slipped into a coma by the time he had arrived at the hospital," he said.

The police have detained five suspects - four male students and one female student - for allegedly beating Arfiand in the spirit of the club's "tradition".

On Tuesday, Rikwanto said that other members of the mountaineering club could be named suspects but he did not elaborate.
