The headlining bout for Yangon, Myanmar’s ONE: HERO’S DREAM on 3 November has been announced, and it is one that will have the whole martial arts world talking.

That is because the main event will see ONE Middleweight World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang face off against heavyweight knockout artist and former Muay Thai world champion Alain “The Panther” Ngalani.

It has been billed as the promotion’s first-ever ‘David vs Goliath’ bout, with middleweight titleholder Aung La N Sang taking on one of the most physically imposing figures in ONE Championship in Ngalani.

The bout was announced by the organization’s chairman and CEO, Chatri Sityodtong, via his Facebook page.

Aung La N Sang (20-10, 1 NC) became the most successful athlete in Myanmar’s sporting history in June. He defeated the previously undefeated Vitaly Bigdash to claim the ONE Middleweight World Championship.

Now, “The Burmese Python” will take on the considerable challenge of Hong Kong’s Ngalani (25-7-1, 2 NC in kickboxing). On 16 September at ONE: TOTAL VICTORY in Jakarta, “The Panther” knocked out former ONE Heavyweight World Title challenger Hideki Sekine in 11 seconds, registering the fastest knockout in the promotion’s heavyweight history.

Aung La N Sang will be conceding the size and weight advantage to Ngalani on event night, but will actually go into the contest with a height and reach advantage, standing 5 cm taller than his heavyweight opponent.

The bout will be contested at open weight, meaning both men can fight at their natural weight in a battle to determine which is the better martial artist, while offering an eye-catching main event spectacle for the fans in Yangon’s Thuwunna Indoor Stadium.

Additional bouts for ONE: HERO’S DREAM will be announced in due course.
