Baby rescued while being cooked in boiling water

A baby girl is fighting for her life in a hospital in China after she was found being "cooked" in a pot of boiling water, China Press reported.

In a nearby house in Dandong, in the Liaoning province, the baby's mother Xu Xiaoli was found dead in a pool of blood.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man, identified only as Sun, to help in the investigation of the gruesome cases on Friday.

The man confessed he killed Xu - the sister-in-law of his ex-wife - and carried away her two-month-old daughter Gong Zaixian.

He brought the baby to his father's house and placed her in a pot with half-filled water.

"I put a rock on the pot cover and planned to cook the baby to death," he told police.

Luckily, the suspect's father heard Gong's cries and rescued her.

The baby is in critical condition at the intensive care unit of a local hospital.
