Bangalore man obsessed with red and white

INDIA - This is an Indian family that is a perfect fit for Singapore. All thanks to the father Mr Sevenraj's unique obsession with the colours red and white.

It began as a business gimmick for the 52-year-old's real estate agency but it has taken over his life.

You'll see red and white in his clothes, his car, his home in Bangalore, even his tube of toothpaste, with a toothbrush to match. His family - wife Pushpa, son Bharath Raj and daughter Maneesha - dress in red and white too when they go out with him.

He told The Times of India: "I feel something is not right if I use stuff that is not red and white.

"Sometimes, if I see something red and white but stop myself from buying it, it haunts me for days." Apart from his fixation with red and white, Mr Sevenraj is quite obsessed with the number 7. His father named him "Sevenraj" because he was the seventh child.

Today he has the number 7 stitched on all his blazers which have seven buttons. His mobile number ends with 7777 and he speaks seven languages.

He explains how he has tried to create his identity using these colours and numbers.

"The late Tamil movie star MGR was recognised by his famous dark glasses and white cap, Mahatma Gandhi is recognised by his glasses and bare torso with a white towel, so I had to do something similar to be recognised by one and all," he said.
