Bangladeshi teen abducted over business rivalry rescued after 11 days

A 15-years-old boy, abducted from Assasuni upazila of Satkhira on October 20, was rescued from Balundi village under Benapole Port Police Station of Jessore district on Friday night.

The victim is Mohammad Babu, son of Salam Morel, a resident of Kharihati village in Assasuni upazila.

Police also detained two abductors-- Habibur Rahman, 40, son of Shafiqur Rahman and Sirajul Islam, 40, son of Babar Ali from the spot.

Apurbo Hasan, officer in-charge (OC) of Benapole Port Police Station, said Habibur and his cohorts abducted Babu from in front of his house on October 20, following a business rivalry with the latter's elder brother Monjur Rahaman Monju.

Acting on secret information, a police team raided Habibur's house around 11:30pm and rescued the boy, the OC said, adding that the criminal's kept the boy at a dark place, chained his hands and legs to a wall and tortured him.

A case was filed with the police station, the OC added.
