Body check-up session goes awry
Chinese art students gather to take their sketch test as part of the college entrance examinations for the chance to study in the various art colleges in Hefei, in central China's Anhui province, 05 January 2008.

A secondary school in Shanxi province has come under fire after it asked female students to take off their shirts so that teachers could measure their chest and waist.

The students were asked to do so during a body check-up session, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported.

The school authority said measuring the students without their clothes on would ensure accuracy.

However, the students filed complaints against the school, saying they were unhappy with the directive and felt awkward when the measurement was taken.

The report did not state the reason for the need to take the chest and waist measurement of the female students.
