A book about Indonesian president-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will be launched at the Pendhapi Gede in Surakarta City Hall in Surakarta, Central Java on Saturday.
The book has been written by 26 reputable public figures in the country, such as Syafii Maarif, former chairman of Indonesia's second-largest Islamic organisation Muhammadiyah; Sukardi Rinakit, political analyst from the Sugeng Sarjadi Syndicate; Refly Harun, constitutional law expert and senior researcher of the Center for Electoral Reform (CETRO); F.X. Hadi Rudyatmo, the 17th mayor of Surakarta; and Surya Paloh, the chairman of the Nasdem Party.
In the 338-page book, the 26 writers have shared their personal views about Jokowi, who was the 16th mayor of Surakarta and the 15th governor of Jakarta.
Julius Felicianus, one of the book's writers, said that the book was initiated by Seno Kusumoarjo, a figure from Boyolali, Central Java.
"He [Seno] was not only the initiator of the book, but also the one who financed it," he said on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.
Jokowi, he said, was expected to attend the launch ceremony of the book, in which he also participated by writing an article titled "It's time to move" (Saatnya bergerak).
On Oct. 20, the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) will inaugurate Jokowi as the country's seventh president along with Jusuf Kalla, the vice president-elect.
