Brazilian man arrested for carrying 1.3kg of cocaine in stomach at Bangkok airport

Two Brazilians have been nabbed in Bangkok for attempting to smuggle and distribute 1.3kg of cocaine, after one of them was found with more than a dozen capsules in his stomach.

According to the Bangkok Post, Paulo Henrique Pires Do Nascimento, 27, was arrested at the Thai capital's Suvarnavhumi airport on Sept 6, after arriving on a flight from Ethiopia.

Police said they had received a tip-off that a man on the flight was attempting to smuggle drugs.

A body scan revealed dozens of lumps in his stomach. Bangkok Post had earlier reported that the x-ray uncovered possibly 100 capsules in his body.

Pires confessed to swallowing the cocaine and revealed the capsules, once expelled, were to be handed over to a contact in the Sukhumvit area.

A subsequent sting operation led to the capture of Elsonias Coleta Da Silva, 35, who showed up at the hotel to collect the drugs.
