Brunei sultan sends condolence message to Indonesia

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam (pic L) yesterday sent a message of condolence to President of Indonesia Joko "Jokowi" Widodo (pic R) following the recent tragic plane crash in Medan, Indonesia.

In the message, His Majesty said he was saddened to hear of the news of the June 30 crash.

His Majesty, His Majesty's Government and the people of Brunei Darussalam extended their condolences and sympathies to Jokowi, the government and people of Indonesia, especially to the families of the victims.

His Majesty hoped that the families of the victims would be able to face the tragedy with patience and fortitude during the blessed month of Ramadhan, and prayed that Allah SWT would bless the souls of the victims.

Bernama reported yesterday that around 142 bodies had been recovered from the crash site.

Some of the bodies were of the people who were killed on the ground.

The authorities could not yet verify the total number of people involved in the tragedy. The search and rescue mission was still ongoing.
