Ceiling collapses during badminton competition in Vietnam; S'pore shuttlers safe

A large portion of the ceiling at the Phan Dinh Phung Stadium collapsing onto the badminton court this week was caught on camera.

In a video posted by Youtube user EXI, it showed the ceiling collapsing and engulfing the arena with dust during the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam GP Open 2014.

The event was taking place in Ho Chi Min City.

According to EXI, he said the stadium roof collapsed before the match started.

From the video, it seemed that nobody was injured.

Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin posted a video of the ceiling collapse on his Instagram page and said the 12 badminton players representing Singapore are safe.

According to Badminton World Federation's website, these Singapore shuttlers were scheduled to compete at the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open:

Robin Gonansa, Terry Hee, Huang Chao, Sean Lee Kwan Ting, Liang Xiaoyu, Loh Kean Hean, Loh Kean Yew, Shinta Mulia Sari, Ronald Susilo, Tan Wei Han, Hendra Wijaya, Dellis Yuliana
