China's population grows to 1.37 billion

The population of the Chinese mainland stood at 1.37 billion by the end of 2014, an increase of 0.52 per cent or 7.1 million on the previous year, the National Bureau of Statistics said.

Women make up 70.08 million of the population and men 66.70 million.

China's gender ratio stood at 115.88 newborn boys for every 100 baby girls.
