Condition of assaulted tourist in Thailand 'worrying'

BANGKOK - A doctor said the condition of an Italian tourist assaulted by two teens in Pranburi in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Thursday, was still a worry, so he would remain in hospital for another two or three days.

Teenage boys hit Dominico Franco, 34, with a baseball bat before stealing his belongings. The man's skull was fractured.

Police visited the man at Hua Hin Hospital for further testimony after arresting the suspects.

Franco told police he was staying at a resort in Paknam Pran sub-district and that he wanted to return home as soon as possible.

On hearing that the attackers had been arrested, he thanked police and Pasitta Inpan, head of the local Tourism Authority office.
