For most people, their wedding day is the occasion to eat, drink and be merry. But for one couple in Thailand, the call of duty outweighed their own wedding festivities.

The bride and groom, identified only as Sarah and Jonathan, were on their way to celebrate their big day at a beach in Krabi on Feb 17 when they dropped everything to tend to an injured motorcyclist, reported Thai media.

They were passing by the scene of the accident and rushed out of their vehicle to render assistance when they saw the motorcyclist lying on the road, eyewitnesses said.

The motorcyclist, 21, had reportedly collided with a pickup truck and injured his left leg

Footage circulating on social media showed the couple springing into action, still dressed in their wedding finery. Jonathan crouched on the ground beside the motorcyclist, supporting his head while Sarah directed traffic away from them.

The couple appeared to be medically trained and even had safety glasses on as they tended to the man's injuries until emergency services arrived.

Sarah, who also had a pair of surgical gloves on, was seen explaining the man's condition to a paramedic on the scene.

While not much else is known about the mysterious good Samaritans, their actions drew praise and well wishes from Thai netizens.

One wrote: "Thank you for your generosity. Even if you are a foreigner, may you stay in Thailand happily."

Another congratulated them on their big day, saying: "May your life be prosperous. May your love last forever."

Local police are reportedly investigating the accident.
