Female Shanghai student beaten up by classmates

A video showing a female student getting beaten up by her classmates has recently gone viral on social media.

While the incident happened on April 29, the video was uploaded on May 4 and shows the second-year student from the Shanghai Medical Vocational School being attacked by five or six other female students.

Bystanders recorded the scene and took pictures on their phones, but nobody stepped up to help, reported Shanghaiist.

Three days after the incident, the school launched an investigation and discovered that the girl being beaten up had allegedly gotten involved with another girl's boyfriend.

The offended party then decided to teach her a lesson she would never forget and gathered her friends to deliver the beating.

Mao Yanping, vice president of the school, told reporters that they were still carrying out investigations as they were responsible for the well-being of students.

The beaten student suffered no lasting injuries, but the school hopes that this incident would not seriously affect the other students' futures.

"They still have a long road ahead of them," said Mao, "We hope that other students will learn a lesson from this incident."
