I WOULD like the Housing Board to revisit its current Free Parking Scheme (FPS) with a view to extending it to cover Saturdays as well.
Since 2004, the Government has implemented a five-day work week for those working in the civil service to allow for a better work-life balance.
An extension of the FPS to include Saturdays will further encourage strong family ties, as couples can then have the option of another day to visit their parents or in-laws too, besides Sundays.
The opportunity cost of forgoing the carpark charges will be more than offset by the benefits derived, intangible though they may be.
The time is ripe now for the HDB to seriously consider this extension.
