Fresh tremor triggers landslides

GORKHA - A 5.1 magnitude earthquake on Saturday triggered landslides in three different places of Barpak village in Gorkha district, dismantling some houses.

A woman sustained minor injuries in a stampede after the quake struck the already ravaged Barpak at around 11:30am.

Jit Bahadur Ghale, a local resident, told the Post over telephone that the tremor triggered landslides at Bargaun and Dhamigaun, the settlements located 2 km from the epicentre of the deadly 7.9 magnitude quake on April 25.

The landslides also damaged a Nepal Telecom tower in the area. Following the quake, landslides had occurred over a dozen places in Barpak.
