Police have busted two online trafficking networks selling underage girls for sex operating out of Makassar and have arrested two operators involved in the networks.

South Sulawesi Police General Crime Unit Chief Comr. Gany Alamsyah said the suspects, identified as Wahyu Bongka and Suaib, were nabbed in a hotel while offering three underage girls to the hotel’s visitors.

“We followed the suspects for two weeks. The suspects offered the girls via online and directly to visitors,” Gany said on Tuesday.

He said the suspects, who claimed to be pimps for a total of 10 underage girls, were believed to offer 63 girls based on data gathered from their mobile phones.

He added the suspects offered the girls to their customers for between Rp 1.5 million (S$154) to Rp 2 million each. “The suspects got Rp 500,000 from each girl,” he added.
