KANPUR, India - A 0.32 bore lightweight revolver, Nirbheek, designed by Indian Ordnance Factory (IOF), was officially launched at Field Gun Factory in Kanpur on March 25.

The aim is to give more power to women to defend themselves and as a tribute to Dec 2012 gangrape victim Nirbhaya.

The IOF handgun is capable of firing six rounds and can be easily carried in handbags. The gun is priced at INR122,360 (S$2,563) and more than 100 women have made bookings for the gun.
