MEDAN, Indonesia - Several people were seriously injured after a powered paraglider at the Medan Air Show 2015, Soewondo Air Base, crashed on Sunday.
Air base spokesman Maj. Jhoni Tarigan said the incident was caused by extreme changes in the wind direction, which caused the paraglider to lose height and hit a tent.
"Several visitors were injured and were rushed to hospital for intensive medical treatment," he told The Jakarta Post.
He added that the incident happened on the eve of the event's conclusion.
The event, which began on May 7 and was officially closed on Sunday evening, was the first to be held in the province, with 15 aircraft from a number of countries, including the US, Germany, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
