Less than a week after the Indian Air Force said it will induct women as fighter pilots, the Indian Navy has also announced it will allow women pilots.

"All flying areas in the navy will be opened to women except where it requires staying overnight on ships like carriers and so on," defence minister Manohar Parrikar said after addressing the Naval Commanders Conference on Oct 26.
