Indian woman claims relatives made her sell her baby, wants child rescued

INDIA - Tamil Nesan reported that a woman from Villupuram, about 100km from Chennai, had asked for her three-month-old child, who she claimed was sold by her relatives for Rs75,000 (S$1,500), to be rescued.

Jayalatchumi, of Sakkarapuram, claimed that her relatives had urged her to sell off her youngest child to a man in Gudiyattam but she had refused.

She alleged that she was then forcefully taken to Gudiyattam, where she had to sign some papers to release the child to the man who gave her the money.

She has now petitioned the district officer to take the child back from the man.
