The first hospital in India to treat abnormalities and diseases in fish is expected to be completed in Kolkata by mid-2015, with a budget of Rs5 crores (S$1.07 million).
Funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the hospital will help fish farmers increase their yield by reducing the number of fish deaths and ensure that people consume healthy fish.
It will also document diseases affecting fish in Bengal, and forward this information to the World Animal Health Organisation in Paris.
