Indonesian police arrest 33 hackers  from China, Taiwan

INDONESIA - A joint task force of the National Police's crime division, Central Java Police and China Police arrested 33 people who hailed from China and Taiwan who were suspected of being part of a cybercrime network at a house in Semarang on Saturday.

The 21 Chinese and 12 Taiwanese suspects, who were in their 20s and 30s, were allegedly targeting people in China. The police also arrested an Indonesian from Medan named Hendra, who worked as a translator for the suspects.

The police confiscated a number of laptops from the two-story house located on Jl. Papandayan in Gajahmungkur district. According to the police, the suspects moved to the house gradually, in small groups of five, and had been living there for around two months.

The suspects were brought to the National Police headquarters in Jakarta for questioning.
